New Zealand win Karl Hickey Memorial Trophy

The Physical Disability Rugby League New Zealand squad has enjoyed a win in their only trial match heading into this year’s Emerging Nations World Championship.

The New Zealand Representative team, who will play an Australian Physical Disability Representative side this October in a best of three series, organised the trial match to give the squad the best chance of winning.

Taking place at Kelston Boys’ High School last Saturday, the NZ squad faced an Auckland Invitational side in what was labelled the Karl Hickey Memorial game.

In a highly contested match, the New Zealand squad won 24 – 16, with captain, Matthew Williams, winning Player of the Match honours.
